Zippo's Nonsensical Ramblings and Other Stuff

Here we are. Today is the day everything changes. Nintendo's main man is starring in his own CG movie. We've waited for this, for a very, very, long time.  I've had my fears and doubts, but I've tossed it all aside. I'm just ready to see it.  This is the biggest day for Nintendo since the Switch launched. Blow me away, Nintendo. I dare you . 

Wow. It's definitely been a big week, hasn't it?  There. Is. Too. Much. News.  I'm not complaining, mind you, but this has been pretty fucking crazy.   Next up, the State of Play. Expectations were measured going into it, but it actually ended up blowing past my expectations by quite a fair bit.  Like A Dragon Ishin is getting a remake, and I have to say...I'm interested. Being Japanese, I absolutely love period pieces of any time period from there, and going with the late Edo period, which was a time of radical change in Japan, is so damn cool.  Project Eve got it's final name, and we saw a new trailer, and the name fits, because it looks absolutely stellar. Character action games are literally made for me, and I'm all in.  God of War Ragnarok continues to look fantastic. I've seen all I need to see. No more, please. I just want November to be here already. And finally...Tekken 8. Holy fuck. The amount of details on the characters looks absolutely ins...

Hmm. That Nintendo Direct was... Decent. There was shit ton of third party games, which makes me happy that Switch still has some life in it. First party was okay. I'm not a Pikmin fan by any stretch, but I'm extremely happy that it was finally announced. Game looks absolutely stunning also. Kirby's Return to Dream Land was a huge surprise and I'm extremely happy about that. Fire Emblem Engage looks absolutely fantastic. I'm very surprised by that one. I'm interested. Octopath Traveler 2 is another big surprise. Day one. Of course, Zelda ended the direct, and while there wasn't much, game continues to look fantastic. And, it's finally got a date! Took them long enough. Oh and yes, too many fucking farm games, come on.  I'll have a fuller article on this soon. Just need to let this one simmer a bit longer.   

Hi, it's Direct time! Let's get started with some predictions. Bayonetta 3 Trailer: This is the safest prediction of this direct, but there will obviously be a new Bayo 3 trailer at the direct, giving one last look at what players will see before it releases next month. I'm quite excited to play it. Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster:  If the Kefka tease wasn't obvious enough, yes I've heard that the Pixel that the Pixel Remasters will come to Switch. Will they be in the direct? Here's hoping. I predict It'll release next year. GB/GBA NSO:  We know Game Boy NSO exists, and I think this is the time for it. I predict that Game Boy, Color and Advance games will be announced and will launch on NSO before the end of the month, at no additional charge for those who are already subscribed to the highest priced model. Super Mario Advance, Super Mario Land, Tetris,  Metroid Fusion, Kirby's Dream Land,  Mole Mania, Minish Cap, Kirby's Nightmare In Dream Land, and F-...

I expected very little, and I was still let down. Mostly mid tier announcements, mobile games and small updates on things we already knew, with a few exceptions: Gargoyles Remastered: HELL YEAH! I've been waiting for this! Gargoyles is one of the greatest shows of all time, and this old, obscure SEGA Genesis game is one of the finest platformers of the 16 bit era. Hi, guess who's back?  Yes, I know, I know, so many people have been asking for it. Frontiers article verrrrrry soon, I promise. But first, the most unsurprising scoop ever.  2D Mario action games are like, a thing every one knows.   So then, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that a new 2D Mario is in development at Nintendo EPD in Kyoto.  I have heard a few things about it: -It will be it's own thing. The "New Super" moniker is being thankfully retired. -It will feature a new art style that will take some people by surprise. -It's "very far" along in development. Might be completed soon.  -Online multiplayer will be included. -Will feature the return of Foreman Spike. -Will release during the 2023/2024 fiscal year.  Given that we do have a Super Mario Bros. movie coming next April, my guess (And this is just a guess) is that it'll release sometime around then. This will be our first original 2D Mario over a decade. Exciting. More soon!

"Sorry to keep you waiting!" I told you I had more scoops. This one is a big one.  Kid Icarus Uprising is absolutely one of my favorite games of all time. The gameplay, story, voice acting, and excellent soundtrack has remained a part of me since I first played it a decade ago and I've replayed it many, many times since then. I treasure this game dearly.  You'll be happy to hear that a full remaster of the game is in development at Bandai Namco. There will be a new, much more accessible control scheme and the visuals are getting a much-needed boost. There is one snag, however. The game's multiplayer mode will return, but will reportedly be running on Bamco's legendarily awful netcode. If you've played any of Bamco's games online before (Smash, FighterZ, Tekken 7), you'll know how disappointing this piece of news is.  Here's hoping that aspect changes before release. Regardless, that's yet another beloved, long requested Nintendo game coming...

Hi, that's quite a loaded title to make a return with, isn't it?  I'm back. I needed a mental break from the blog, being a dad and all of that, but I've had a recharge, and I'm back with new scoops and articles coming your way. This first one's a doozy.  So, there's been talk and rumors have popped up about new revivals of Nintendo properties. I've previously thrown out Golden Sun, and now it's time for another. Pack your bags.  We're returning to The Lylat System. A new Star Fox game has been in development for quite a while, it's being made at an of outside studio, with the close, close supervision of Nintendo. The thing is, I haven't yet been able to track down who is developing it.  There's a lot of options here: Bandai Namco, Next Level, Q Games, Koei Tecmo, Ubisoft, and even...* shudders*...Forever Entertainment. I want to get to this banger Partner Direct, but first, yes, Persona 3, 4 and 5 are coming to Switch.  I'm not here to brag about being right, that's petty.   Here we are, another Sonic anniversary is quickly coming and going. It's still not over here in Hawaii, so I'm enjoying the last bit of it here. Some things dropped so i figured I talk a bit about them.  Sonic Origins Release:  The day has finally come and a new Sonic compilation has graced us. It's pretty much what I expected. Just kidding, no, this has a lot of problems, on the programming side. The Headcannon team did a wonderful job with 3&K, just as I expected them to. The game looks absolutely amazing on the big and small screen. I know the music has been a big point of contention, but I was told about this well in advance, so it hasn't hampered my enjoyment. The story mode is the obvious main attraction here and I've been immensely enjoying that. They're all amazing to look at and the team at Powerhouse went above and beyond with the animation here. Hey, I'm on vacation, and this past weekend, I enjoyed my first Father's Day as the father of a newborn, so I decided to take a break. I'm back, with a scoop.  I've gotten word that Donkey Kong's next adventure from the crew at EPD Tokyo has gone gold.  They are currently sitting on the game, though I'm not sure for how long it's been finished.  Nintendo has a big direct next week, will they announce it there? I genuinely don't know, Nintendo can and has sat on many games for quite a while. All we can do now, is hope, and wait.  Let's manifest this together so we can see, and hopefully be playing DK's next masterpiece ASAP.
