2026's 'Mario Adjacent' Film Is A Spin-Off, Plus Luigi's Mansion Scoops.



Happy Belated Mario Day to all of you out there in the Mushroom Kingdom. 

We had quite a few Mario announcements over the weekend, including LEGO Mario Kart, and release date announcements for Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion 2. 

Obviously, the biggest deal was the announcement of a brand new film "Based Around The World Of Super Mario Bros." 

Essentially meaning, this is NOT a sequel to the Super Mario Bros. movie, if you were wondering. 

I can confirm from my own sources that is indeed the case. This movie is a spinoff. 

Here's where it gets crazy:

I'm hearing that this film is either Luigi's Mansion OR the Donkey Kong film. Both of which are in development at Illumination. 

I DO NOT KNOW which film has taken the April 2026 date, but I DO know a few things that point to it being the former:



I'm also hearing that Next Level Games' Switch 2 debut, Luigi Mansion 4, Is set to release in the first half of 2026. 

The game is sounding incredibly ambitious, and this is easily the biggest and most expensive game Next Level has ever made. 

Expect absolutely mind-blowing visuals, animation and a game that is TWICE the size of Luigi's Mansion 3. Thought Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart looked good? This blows it out of the water. That's a guarantee. 


That leads me to believe that Nintendo wants both products to release around the same time to keep the brand synergy going. It makes perfect sense to me. 

Another thing that's interesting is that the movie is only about to *start* animation, meaning this movie is only going to have roughly about 22-23 months of production, which is astoundingly low, even for illumination standards. It also means a *LOT* of things from the previous film are going to be re-used.

That also falls in line with what I've heard. Universal wants more Mario related films in the theatres, as soon as possible, and as quickly as they can make them. Whether that's a good or bad thing is entirely up to you to decide. 


So that's all for now. We will be waiting a bit for official details, but big things are indeed coming. Stay tuned.

  Sigh. I hate this type of stuff. Genuinely. Drama is something that stresses me out. I'm simply sharing information here. Nintendo Direct Watch Season Begins NOW.

We're starting 2024 with a bang. Didn't expect that, did ya?  Yup, I'm hearing from the usual sources that Nintendo is planning a Direct to air this very month. It could air from this coming week, to the end of the month.  Expect this to be "cleanup" for the Switch. Nintendo has been pretty silent since September, so expect more details on Paper Mario, Peach Showtime and a few other things. There's still a few surprises left in this old thing.  They have an obviously insane   of them, so it's smart to get Switch stuff out of the way earlier than usual this year.  Stay tuned here for more.

Mario Kart X Will Release In 2025.

Now that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Booster Course Pass has finally come to an end, in spectacular fashion I might add, now the question being asked is "Well, what's next?"  Well, I finally have some more insight on that. The tenth (no, not ninth) installment of the Mario Kart series will release in 2025, which will be Switch 2's second year on the market. The intention is to release the title sometime before the system's second holiday on the market.  The title is being developed primarily by Nintendo EPD Production Group 9, with Bandai Namco Studios once again co-developing.  Additionally, Nintendo are sparring absolutely no expense with this game. This is apparently one of the most expensive games Nintendo has ever put into production. The next 3D Mario title is said to be "absolutely dropping" and this apparently looks even better.
