Super Monkey Ball Returns In 2024.
Hey! If you've read my blog for any amount of time, you'll know that I'm a huge, huge fan of the original Super Monkey Ball games for GameCube. They're some my favorite games of all time, and they're still incredible games that I can pick up and play anytime, and I still do every few months, they're just nice, cozy, comfort games, ya know?
You'll be happy to know then, that the next installment starring SEGA's favorite simians is in the works at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. That studio is a true workhorse, I tell you what. Two Like A Dragon games and then a brand new Super Monkey Ball game in a full twelve months. They're madmen and that's exactly why they remain the shining beacon of the company.
You'll be even more happy to know that this gane will be on every platform under the sun, that includes PS5, Xbox, Steam and of course, Nintendo's new console. In fact, I'm hearing that this new game will most likely be one of the first games releasing in the early months of the new console. Super Monkey Ball was famously a series that launched with both the GameCube and Wii, so it's pretty nice to see that tradition may actually be continuing here.
Look forward to an announcement next year.
So there ya have it. You have a new 3D Mario, a new Pokemon game and of course, a new Super Monkey Ball game all launching within the first few months of Switch's successor next year.
That's a pretty good start, right? Strap in.

Waitwaitwait... what's that about a new Pokemon game in the first months? Like really? I mean, monkey ball is nice, but at least for me, pokemon is bigger news!
ReplyDeleteHe mentioned it in October 2021, that Game Freak have had the "Switch 2" devkit since ~2021 and have been working on the "next generation of Pokemon" for the "Switch 2", and that Nintendo were pushing them to have it released within six months of "Switch 2"'s release.

HOWEVER, Scarlet/Violet were announced a few months later and have come and almost gone soon, so I'm not really sure if he meant the literal "next generation" of Pokemon, as in the next mainline series, or the "next generation" as in "next-gen" Pokemon for the new Switch. It's hard to make out what he means, so I'd love some clarification if he has time 😇

Why not on the current Switch? Monkey Ball ran fine at 60fps on that, and Nintendo/third parties wouldn’t cut support immediately for such a popular console.
ReplyDeleteI hope it's better than Banana Mania. I don't understand what went wrong with that game.
ReplyDeleteFans imported the old physics into the PC version and it ran just fine.
The minigames in Banana Mania were also worse.
The money grubbing with Banana Mania was also really bad with that whole digital deluxe stuff SEGA has been pushing. If I recall correctly, the digital deluxe was the only way to get the original soundtrack, the new soundtrack in that game was pretty bad as well.
This is awesome! I grabbed the first monkey ball on Switch when I was getting back into gaming. This is pretty cool! Also, did you mention a Pokemon game before? Are they remakes or something else. Thanks anyways!
