"Where's The Next Mario Game?"

That's been the million dollar question, hasn't it?

Nintendo not having some sort of new Mario release to go alongside the movie was very odd. It's a move I don't quite understand, but I'm also not a businessman, so what do I know?

That said, we're in unusual territory, there have been very few years where we hit the fifth month of the year with no new Mario game of some sort announced.

Not to worry, though. I'm hearing that Nintendo is actually sitting on multiple finished Mario titles.

There's of course, a New 2D Mario:

A New Sports Title:

And:

Yes, the rumors are real, as I alluded to at the very beginning of the year, there is indeed a remaster of Thousand Year Door coming, and it's already finished. Intelligent Systems truly live up to their name, I tell you. They are true miracle workers.

Also:

There are very believable rumors and job postings pointing to a new game in the ever-popular Mario and Sonic series, which would make sense, as we're about a year out from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games beginning, and the two mascots have not missed a single Summer Games yet.

Tears of The Kingdom will be out in less than a week, and their release schedule, with the sole exception of Pikmin 4, is practically empty. Nintendo's next console is certainly around the corner, but they still have some unannounced games to fill the rest of the year out with. Direct or not, I suspect we'll find out more soon.

Which one will be announced first? I guess we'll have to wait and see. When there's smoke, fire is certainly quick to follow.

  2. I am very much looking forward to the TYD remaster. I haven't been inclined to play a Paper Mario game in a while.

I hope with the new 2D Mario game we get more interesting level design and art style. NSMB's art style was cool at first but became very bland after the series left the DS.

  3. These are all amazing news and I wonder if Nintendo will ever port super Mario Galaxy 2 to the switch?

  5. You don't know how massive would be the announcement of Paper Mario TTYD remastered, that would be amazing. Also, the Paris 2024 game can have a lot of potential specially if it have a more complex Story Mode than Tokyo. Actually roaming around Paris, completing missions, unlocking stuff is what I want the most for this series, to be a true adventure of both Mario and Sonic.
