Small Update On The New 2D Mario. UPDATED: Job Listing Found!



Hey, people have been asking for update on this new 2D Mario everyone's been wanting to see, so here's a bit more info.



-It's been in development for over three years, and development should, or has just about wrapped up. 


-Takashi Tezuka and Hiroyuki Kimura, who are longtime 2D Mario veterans, are once again serving as producers for this title. 


-Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad are your playable characters this time around. 

Fun Fact: This will mark the first time Peach has been playable in a 2D Mario since Super Mario Bros. 2, which was nearly 35 years ago. My god, that's a long time. 


(No, a costume in Maker and a power up in NSMBU Deluxe don't count!)


-Still set for release in the 2023/2024 fiscal year.


This is less a statement on the game, but more on the future of the franchise itself.


-Mario and co. will gradually take things and design elements from the movie moving forward, such as the brothers' updated outfits. You're actually starting to see this already:


Look closely and notice Mario has his new shoe laces from the movie. 


I smell a Direct isn't too far off. Nintendo has a pretty hefty year planned, so it's almost time to start talking about it, yeah? Hopefully we hear more early into the new year.

Well, what do we have here? 


This totally slipped my mind until just this morning, but I recall seeing this years ago. Nintendo posted a job listing detailing the development of an unannounced 2D action game over three years ago. Given how there hasn't been a pep out of that listing for the last three years, and yup, it's all lining up.

    Sounds interesting. I hope it's a hand drawn 2D Mario game that would be amazing. I don't think there's been a truly great 2D Mario game since NSMB on the DS. Every game afterwards was fine but unless you're playing in co-op with four people they're not so fun in my opinion.

    Idea on how you can prove you are not just making guesses: in your posts, put the SHA256s hashes for gameplay videos, screenshots, artwork etc. Then when the game is officially announced, make a follow-up post with those exact same (byte-for-byte) videos, screens etc - then people can download those and see that the hashes match, proving that you had those materials at the time of your original post.

Nintendo Direct Watch Season Begins NOW.

We're starting 2024 with a bang. Didn't expect that, did ya?  Yup, I'm hearing from the usual sources that Nintendo is planning a Direct to air this very month. It could air from this coming week, to the end of the month.  Expect this to be "cleanup" for the Switch. Nintendo has been pretty silent since September, so expect more details on Paper Mario, Peach Showtime and a few other things. There's still a few surprises left in this old thing.  They have an obviously insane   of them, so it's smart to get Switch stuff out of the way earlier than usual this year.  Stay tuned here for more.

Mario Kart X Will Release In 2025.

Now that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Booster Course Pass has finally come to an end, in spectacular fashion I might add, now the question being asked is "Well, what's next?"  Well, I finally have some more insight on that. The tenth (no, not ninth) installment of the Mario Kart series will release in 2025, which will be Switch 2's second year on the market. The intention is to release the title sometime before the system's second holiday on the market.  The title is being developed primarily by Nintendo EPD Production Group 9, with Bandai Namco Studios once again co-developing.  Additionally, Nintendo are sparring absolutely no expense with this game. This is apparently one of the most expensive games Nintendo has ever put into production. The next 3D Mario title is said to be "absolutely dropping" and this apparently looks even better.
