Quick Takes: Mario and Sonic News.

Hey, I'm getting ready for the imminent birth of my first child, so that's what's been taking my time the last few days here. Without further ado. Here goes.

First up, Illumination's Mario Movie Has Been Delayed:

Well, this was unexpected. If you ever see a message typed up by Mr. Miyamoto himself, expect it to be some pretty big shit.

This was probably a pretty good move on Universal's part. December is usually a pretty crowded month, and as Disney announced a few days ago, they're staying firm. Avatar's long awaited sequel is hitting in December, and regardless of anyone's feelings on the original film, this is going to be a gargantuan film. It would have eaten into Mario's projected gross, without a doubt, so moving it to a far less busy month, such as April, was a smart decision.

It's worked for Sonic, so why not Mario? It's also far enough away from Universal's other big tentpole of the year, Fast and Furious 10. It's going to be quite awhile until we see a trailer, but here's hoping the film is well worth the wait.

One other interesting thing to note: Before this announcement, Nintendo was just calling the movie, "The Mario Movie", but going from Miyamoto's announcement, it's now being called "The Super Mario Bros. Movie". Could that be the final title? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

SEGA "Has No Plans" For A Physical Release of Sonic Origins:

I'll tell you right now. This is complete and utter bullshit. They're planning for a physical version as we speak. We have literal proof that they were planning this same tactic for Mania, by way of the notes of the 2017 SXSW Sonic Panel. They're doing this to get all of us suckers to double dip. The sad thing is, this is absolutely going to work. I guaran-fucking-tee it.

Speaking of which, I'll have another Sonic Origins article hitting very soon. Stay tuned.
