Zippo Predicts 2022 In Gaming. (Part 1)

Hey, Happy New Year to everyone! I wish everyone good health and fortune this year.

First article of the year. I thought it would be fun to predict how the year will turn out. I'm gonna split this into multiple parts, because there's just way too much to predict here. Keep in mind most of these are just for fun, and a few of them are educated guesses. Also, those Star Wars and Spidey articles are done, just gotta fine tune them a bit before they go up. Witout further ado, let's get it going.

Logical Predictions:

Fire Emblem Genealogy Remake:

As of now, there's a remake of a previous Fire Emblem game in development. Thing is, I haven't been able to find out which one. I'm gonna go ahead and predict that the fourth game will get the Echoes treatment. It's never seen an international release, so that's gonna be very exciting to FE fans.


Resident Evil 4 Remake Will Be Announced:

Let's face it. RE4 remake is one of the worst kept secrets of the last few years. It's coming, and it's coming before too long. My prediction is that it will be announced around E3 time, set for an early 2023 release. Game will look absolutely stunning.

Star Wars Fallen Order 2 Is Coming This Year: 

The first game was frankly, one of the biggest surprises of 2019 for me. I absolutely loved it. I'm more than ready for the continuation of Kal's story. We'll be hearing about this one soon. This is almost a guarantee.


Splatoon 3 Will Release in Summer:

There's been a lot of talk about about Splatoon 3, and when exactly it's releasing.
I'm going to make an extremely unsurprising prediction and say, Summer, some time around July or August. Promotion for the game should start ramping up soon.

"Medium Big" Predictions:

Sonic Orgins Will Actually Be Really Good:

I know you're going "Wait, what? Why is he predicting this for?" I think this collection will be more robust than we might have originally thought. I predict that Sonic 3&K will be the showpiece of the collection and the collection will have some cool new things that no one expected. I also believe it will receive a collector's edition with even more bonuses and extras. 

PS5 Year Two Will Be Just Okay:

The Playstation 5 is obviously one of the biggest items on the planet right now, but with that said, there's hardly been any exclusives that it can call it's own right now, and I think that'll continue into this year. GT7, God of War and Horizon 2 are all set for release on PS4 as well as PS5, and I think that's kind of gonna be it for Sony lineup this year. Disappointing, but it typically takes Sony a while to get their console lineups going. 

Dragon Quest III Remake Will Release  Worldwide This Year:

Dragon Quest III is one of the most legendary games in Japanese history, and it's getting an incredible looking remake in the HD 2D engine. My prediction is that we'll be all playing it THIS YEAR. Akira Toriyama will illustrate amazing boxart.

Mario Party Superstars Will Get Continuous DLC:

Mario Party Superstars was an excellent return to form for Mario Party, it brought the series back to the quality of the old games and it's an absolute blast to play. I believe there will be paid DLC in the form of new characters, boards and minigames. Some of the boards that I predict for DLC will be Pagoda Peak, Koopa's Tycoon Town, and E Gadd's Garage.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters Will Hit Consoles:

Last one of this section. I predict that the FF 1-6 Pixel Remasters will be all bundled into one big collection and release on Consoles for 60 bucks, 10 bucks a pop. The price will be hard for some to swallow, but eh, we'll all probably buy them anyway.

Big Predictions:


Street Fighter VI Will Be Announced:

Street Fighter V had a rocky start, and that's just scratching the surface of that whole thing, but it managed to turn the ship around and it turned out to be a pretty great game, all things considered. SFVI has been in development for quite a long time as well, and it's had it's own rocky development, but from all accounts, it's well on it's way to becoming the next great fighter from Capcom. Dimps is a reliable developer and they've done tons of quality games. This will be announced as part of Street Fighter's 35th Anniversary and will be released in 2023. Most of the characters featured will be returning, as we as some long absent Fighter's, including Sean, Dudley, Elena, Q and Crimson Viper. I also predict that game will feature guest characters, including Morrigan, Batsu, and Captain Commando. I also will predict that right from the start, Capcom will announce that this will be the first Street Fighter game with rollback netcode. Boom.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Is Coming This Year:

Xenoblade 3 was outed by prominent insiders last year, and it's apparently done and ready to go. My prediction is that Nintendo will announce it during the first General Nintendo Direct of the year, which should be rather soon, and it'll release in the Autumn-Winter months.

Tekken 8 Is Coming:

Tekken 7 was a huge success, and that's a huge understatement. We've already seen hints toward the next installment, and I don't believe that we're very far from an announcement of the next one. I predict that it will be PS5 only, and for the first time, Tekken will include rollback netcode. If Arc Sys can do it, so can they. I'll predict two guest characters: Akira Yuki from Virtua Fighter, and Tifa Lockheart from Final Fantasy 7. I predict a 2023 release.

Dragon Ball FighterZ Continues:

Surprise, Surprise. DBFZ lives. This four year old game continues to crush expectations and it's getting even more content in the future. Dragon Ball Super Super Hero is Releasing in April in Japan, and with that, I'll predict 4 more characters, Gamma 1, Gamma 2, Adult Super Saiyan Gohan, and...

Teen Gotenks. Making his debut in canon for the first time ever. 

Ace Attorney 7 Will Be Announced:

Capcom has a pretty good 2022 planned, it seems. Most of their major franchises have something big planned, and Ace Attorney will probably not be an exception. Ace Attorney 7 is indeed in the works, and will be announced in the coming months. It's been speculated that there will be a new protagonist, but nope, I don't think so. Phoenix and Maya will return for a whole new batch of cases. Shu Takumi will direct this new installment and I predict that it'll release worldwide in early 2023.
