A Sonic Origins Update.
As is obvious by now, it's been a long time since we've gotten word on Sonic Origins, and I've recently learned that things... haven't been so great.
I stand by everything said in the Sonic 3 article, this is just additional information.
To keep it short, development of this collection is behind schedule, is being made on a shoe-string budget, with a small ad hoc team of developers. The announcement of this thing was nothing short of an unmitigated disaster. No footage, no art, no platforms, heck, they didn't even have a freaking logo done. Nothing. To date, there's no official mention of the collection on any of their official social media or websites. It's like, it doesn't exist, or something. What's even crazier is that this collection was planned for over two fucking years. This was once again, going to be an Evening Star project, but of course, everything went FUBAR, so there went those original plans. Last I heard, they wanted to have this out in time with the release of the second film, but as of now, I have no idea if that's going to happen or not. They promised new information before the end of the year, but given that we're half way into November, and that was six months ago, eh. While I don't know the timing of anything currently, I don't think that's going to happen.
This type of situation is absolutely embarrassing, and it just shows the sheer incompetence of how this company is run. Something fans can do in a few months is somehow beyond their ability. Mind blowing. Why did they even bother announcing this so early?
How difficult is it for a multi-billion dollar company to just make these again?
I joked recently that maybe they blew all of their cash on getting the Jackson Estate to shut up, but maybe that actually is somehow the case, haha.
This anniversary is almost over, and besides the concert, it's been really, really lame.
you sure have been enjoying that attention huh
ReplyDeleteSo I have done some digging and poking around
ReplyDeleteSonic CD ports on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC were all done by one person most likely Christian Whitehead himself, if the games are just the retro engine versions on Modern Consoles, we should be in the clear, but before you say: NitPicker! What about Sonic 3? It didn't get a Retro Engine version! Christian Whitehead made a proof of concept that looked pretty much done, so most likely they are using that
SO... as long as they are PORTS and/or they are being done by Stealth (aka Headcannon), then it should be fine as long as the devs know what they are doing
They better not fuck this up
This is very upsetting to hear. Especially when a lot of the work is already done for Sonic 1,2, & CD. SEGA already released a botched port of Sonic Colors. Hopefully they delay Origins further into the year to give it more time. But from what your saying it looks like they are going to rush it to be released in time for the 2nd movie and that's just sad.
ReplyDeleteDont listen to him, hes been posting fake leaks for a long time now
DeleteZippo has had a history of getting things correct. Such as speaking about Paper Mario the Origami King and Metroid Dread and if you look at his Sonic 30th anniversary blog post most of the stuff he mentioned came true. Nothing from it has been outright disproven the things that haven't come true yet like the 2D Sonic game could still come out in the not too distant future.
DeleteI don't trust a leaker who's leaking stuff for the sake of getting bad news out there.
DeleteAlso Tyson already debunked Zippo's credibility anyways.
DeleteTyson never specified Zippo and even if he did it makes absolutely no sense for him to say that. Considering if you look at Zippo's 30th anniversary blog post you'll see how much of it has come true so far.
DeleteThat leak is a fake.
ReplyDeletei don't give a f@@k about collections, we have enough collections as it is.
ReplyDeleteYou expect that Sonic Fans will believe in You after You bamboozled them thinking that the Sonic Adventure Remakes where cancelled BC of poor sales of Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric which They where cancelled BC of good sales of Sonic Forces (shockingly). I'll see it when I believe it other than that. Enough of the lies Zippo
ReplyDeleteAt first I didn't believe but seeing how Sega celebrated this franchise's 30th anniversary, and how Sonic Colors Ultimate turned out, I started to see the bigger picture of a failed company that can't even do anything right at this point.
ReplyDeleteBefore someone bringing up Tyson Hesse debunking, may I remind you that he's still working with Sega so he has a shit tons of NDAs in his head that he had to protect the company.
