Scoop: The New 2D Sonic Game Is Alive And Well.



Hey everyone, last scoop from me for awhile.

Remember in my very first article how I talked about a new 2D Sonic game was in development, and then things went completely silent on my end? 

Well, I started to hear things about it again reently, and you'll be happy to know that the project is alive and well. 


Here's a few more details about it:

-Believe it or not, it's actually being developed by Sonic Team, with little to no outside involvement. 

-This is the first time they will be developing a 2D Sonic game in nearly 30 years. 

-It's being billed as a follow-up to the Sonic Advance and Rush series, in the same way Mania was a follow-up to the classic series.

-Sonic, Tails and Knuckles are playable. This is the first time Tails and Knuckles will be fully playable in a modern focused 2D game since 2004's Sonic Advance 3. It's been a very long time, folks.

-I'm unsure of the release timing at this moment, but given that SEGA has recently doubled down on Sonic Frontiers releasing this holiday, it's safe to assume that this will be a 2023 game.

    Hey Zippo! You said a loooong time ago that the new Sonic game (now Sonic Frontiers) would have multiple playable characters, is that still true or has that been cut?

    What art style are they going for?
    Sprites? Like Mania and Advance Series?

    Or 3D models on 2D Levels like Rush?

    Or are they going 3D like Sonic 4

    Or 2.5D like a whole game of Classic Side of Sonic Generations / Forces?

    It'll be interesting to see this new Sonic Team pull off both a reinvention of the 3D games and a brand new 2D game. I want fresh and interesting ideas made with passion. I think the last Sonic game that felt ambitious was Sonic Unleashed.

    I like Sonic gameplay easy mode like Mario 3D Land.
    For Graphic 2D Sonic maybe away from the pixel like Aseprite devolpment.
    Clean shape 2D like Illustartor - Freehand MX

    Since the rumors about the 2D game are spreading again...Would you tell us something more about it? You said it was developed by Sonic Team with no external involvement...what does this mean exactly? Sonic Studio USA is considered internal o external? I ask this since you said Frontiers was supposed to be created there in concept. Personally I felt Sonic Studio did a terrible job with Frontiers (June 2022 was horrible omg) so I'm a little concerned about it.

  Sigh. I hate this type of stuff. Genuinely. Drama is something that stresses me out. I'm simply sharing information here. Nintendo Direct Watch Season Begins NOW.

We're starting 2024 with a bang. Didn't expect that, did ya?  Yup, I'm hearing from the usual sources that Nintendo is planning a Direct to air this very month. It could air from this coming week, to the end of the month.  Expect this to be "cleanup" for the Switch. Nintendo has been pretty silent since September, so expect more details on Paper Mario, Peach Showtime and a few other things. There's still a few surprises left in this old thing.  They have an obviously insane   of them, so it's smart to get Switch stuff out of the way earlier than usual this year.  Stay tuned here for more.

Mario Kart X Will Release In 2025.

Now that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Booster Course Pass has finally come to an end, in spectacular fashion I might add, now the question being asked is "Well, what's next?"  Well, I finally have some more insight on that. The tenth (no, not ninth) installment of the Mario Kart series will release in 2025, which will be Switch 2's second year on the market. The intention is to release the title sometime before the system's second holiday on the market.  The title is being developed primarily by Nintendo EPD Production Group 9, with Bandai Namco Studios once again co-developing.  Additionally, Nintendo are sparring absolutely no expense with this game. This is apparently one of the most expensive games Nintendo has ever put into production. The next 3D Mario title is said to be "absolutely dropping" and this apparently looks even better.
